Ziyan Bai, originally from Beijing, China, is currently based in New York City, where she studies Illustration at the School of Visual Arts (SVA). Her practice spans both traditional and contemporary media—ranging from oil painting and charcoal drawing to digital illustration. She also explores ceramics, sewing, printmaking, and silversmithing, and is a skilled makeup artist.
Ziyan’s work explores themes of body and psyche, memory, and cultural identity, while also drawing inspiration from the cute and lively moments of everyday life. Her visual language is tender and emotionally resonant, often blending personal stories with a sense of warmth and healing. With a background in nursing, she sees art as both a form of expression and a path toward connection. Through her creations, she hopes to offer comfort, evoke joy, and create space for empathy.
